Born in Mallorca, Francesca Martí works between her native Spain and Sweden. She emerged on the art scene in the early 1990s. Since then her paintings, photographs, sculptures and performances have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries, museums and art fairs in Spain, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK, Slovakia, Jordan, Israel, South Korea, China, Australia and the USA. Marti’ is well known for her ability to move across different mediums and themes, staging performances with musicians, actors, athletes and dancers, which she films and then transforms into expressive videos.
Her prize-winning installations at the Biennales of Cairo (2007) and Montijo in Portugal (2008) were followed by her Echoes solo at the Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art in Palma de Mallorca, and the publication of her 400-page book “Borders of Reality” in 2010. Her Transformation exhibition at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Slovakia in 2017 functioned as a large-scale retrospective of her multi-faceted career, and her renowned Dreamers and Believers sculptures continue to develop in new and exciting directions. Martí is represented by Gerhardt Braun Gallery in Palma de Mallorca.
